Your now is not your forever.
-John Green
I work with middle school, high school and college students.
Some adolescents embrace today’s competitive environment, while some get anxious or depressed. Social media can exacerbate feelings of rejection, isolation, lack of belonging. We address peer challenges, social media relationships, family or academic pressure, body image issues, substance abuse. The pressure of college applications and leaving home often brings up a high level of anxiety and family stress, and can be normalized and addressed with specific strategies in therapy.
Adolescents experience emotions very deeply, without the life experience that “this too shall pass.” I take those emotions very seriously, and work closely with the young person, with regular communication with parents or families, to improve familial relationships and address problematic issues.
